John Kerry wants to end free speech

The worst assault on free speech by the climate change lobby has just come from John Kerry, unsuccesful presidential candidate in 2004 election, Secretary of State from 2013 to 2017 and US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate from 2021 to March 2024. Addressing a world audience at the World Economic Forum, he attacked the First Amendment of the American Constitution as a "major block" to "hammer it [disinformation] out of existence".

Daily Friend columnist, Andrew Kenny has written an article for the Daily Friend recently entitled "John Kerry wants to end free speech".

Andrew writes that, for him, John Kerry has committed the worst assault on free speech by the climate change lobby (formerly the global warming lobby).

Addressing a world audience at the World Economic Forum, he attacked the First Amendment of the American Constitution as a "major block" to "hammer it [disinformation] out of existence".

Kerry appears to believe that "it" - free speech - is part of the problem in democracies,. It hinders "building consensus around any issue".

This makes governing today "really hard". He rues that "the referees" who had to determine fact from fiction  "have kind of been eviscerated, to a certain degree".

He worries that people "self-select" their news sources where they go for news and information.Kerry sees the world as struggling in the absence of  "a sort of truth arbiter, and there’s no one who defines what facts really are".

Presumably, what worries Kerry is that free speech has succeeded in diminishing many of the arguments that his lobby had dominion over for years. As supporter of free speech and truth would say, suck it up, John.
